The artist's country house at Rockfield, high on a windy hilltop, has been one of the passions of her life. She loves painting the sweeping views the property provides, but also more intimate aspects of it, such as the garden and sometimes the interior. The house, now a rambling Victorian villa with broad verandahs, seems to have started life as a very small 'great house', consisting perhaps of only three rooms, two downstairs and one upstairs, plus a kitchen annexe. It has expanded over the years, but also contracted, in the sense that numerous outbuildings have been flattened by Jamaica's periodic hurricanes. Now only their foundations remain.
